Giza is a sphynx cat. She is colored like a seal-point Siamese but without the fur. (Actually, her feet, tail, and ears have some fur on them, and the rest of her is covered with a short soft down.)

She is very outgoing and loves to climb all over people and throw things on the floor. She is trained to walk on a leash and use a human toilet, but neither is really worth the effort.

Giza was born on June 14, 2000 at Prophecy Sphynx in Woodbridge, Virginia. Debbie Bukowski was the breeder and Giza's parents are Adam (Prophecy Begins With Adam) and Peaches (Kattewyk's Just Peachie of Prophecy), both show champions.

Many sphynxes are given Egyptian names like Nefertiti or Osiris. Giza is the plateau outside Cairo which holds the ancient pyramids and Great Sphinx.

Sphynxes are nearly hairless because of a rare genetic mutation. There is evidence that hairless cats have shown up occasionally throughout history, and one legend suggests that in the ancient Egyptians celebrated the birth of a hairless cat as an incarnation of a supreme being. The modern sphynx breeding program began in Canada in 1966.
